Realignment of Library Services

The Library has been joined with Docket Services and Multi-Media Services to form a new branch of Information Services entitled Library / Dockets & Media Management. Dorothy Y. Beard is the Chief of this new branch.

Coast Guard Law Library Remains with DOT – At Least for Now

Although the Coast Guard is now a part of the new Department of Homeland Security (DHS), the law library at the Transpoint Building has continued to be operated by the DOT Library. The DOT Library has also continued to provide information services to the staff of the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), also a part of DHS.

Staffing

Phyllis A. Bell is Acting Library Director.

Anne Foley has resigned from her position of Coast

Guard law librarian. Anne joined the DOT Library staff in June 2002. Tom Haggerty, a DOT Headquarters Library reference librarian with an extensive maritime library background, has been detailed to the Coast Guard Law Library.

Getting (More) Organized

Thanks to the DOT Library’s donation of its print collection of West’s The Government Contractor, Briefing Papers, and the Nash & Cibinic Report, the Coast Guard Law Library is reorganizing its collection in order to accommodate these materials on its shelves. So for a brief while some of the treatises and law books will be uprooted from their proper places – but please ask for assistance if you cannot find something!
